Fillers vs. Botox
Dermal fillers are all over the place and marketed under various names. Many people assume that Botox is just another one of the fillers that is out there. This is false information. There is a difference between dermal fillers and Botox.
When you look at the two, there is one primary difference. Dermal fillers are responsible for filling in lines while Botox will actually freeze the muscle.
If you use a dermal filler, such as Juvederm or Restylane, you are actually filling up the wrinkles and contouring the face. With Botox, the overactive muscles are being softened and the wrinkles will be smoothed out.
Determining whether you need Botox or dermal filler will depend upon your situation. If you frown a lot, it is going to create a significant increase within the skin on your face. Botox can be used in order to reduce and relax the muscle. This allows you to look more relaxed and more rested – and ensures that the smile or frown is not creasing the skin too much – thus causing wrinkles.
When you find someone who can inject Botox expertly, you gain a very natural look that is customized to meet your needs. The whole reason that you want to find a professional to insert the Botox is to gain this improved appearance. If you have ever seen a person that looks as though they have a permanent smile, it is because the person injecting the Botox did not concentrate on where the toxin was being placed into the muscle and the results were not ideal.
Obviously, when you look at how Botox is designed to relax the muscle and dermal fillers are simply designed to fill in the wrinkles, there is a dramatic difference – and this is often forgotten. Botox will only help you if you have overactive muscles. If you don’t do a lot of frowning and smiling, it may be beneficial for you to look at the dermal filler.
Most people will benefit from Botox injections – and a doctor will be able to tell you which one you will benefit from the most during a consultation. This is when they will take the time to look at the various wrinkles, where they’re located, and how deep they are. This consultation can ultimately save you a lot of money by determining whether a dermal filler or Botox is going to give you the results that you desire.
